Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini appointed to
Ohio Athletic Commission
One of the Valley's hometown heroes will help regulate boxing and similar sports in Ohio.
Governor John Kasich has appointed Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini to the Ohio Athletic Commission.
The Commission, the successor to the State Boxing Commission, regulates boxing, mixed martial arts, wrestling, kick boxing, karate, tough person contests and Athlete Agents.
The commission's mission is to protect the safety of the participants and the interests of the public.
The retired boxer held the World Boxing Association lightweight championship from 1982 to 1984 and is still active in the community.
He is a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
Mancini's term is in effect as of Wednesday and expires on September 2, 2018.
A Note from Ray
Welcome to the first, only and official, Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini web site. Through the years, I was asked if I had a web site, and when I answered that I didn't, inevitably I was asked "why not"? And told that I should get one. To tell you the truth, I really didn't see the need for one. I thought that those who wanted to find out about me, could go to other web sites and find out. And to be honest, I thought, "who'd care"! I also thought it might be to much work to keep up with and I wouldn't have the time.
I finally agreed to do it for a couple of reasons: First, for those who truly were interested in my career and what I'm doing now, I thought it was a good way to keep them informed. Second, to have a central place where people could communicate with me, solicit or purchase memorabilia, products and merchandise. There has been way to many sites that say that they have "official" and "authentic" Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini memorabilia and merchandise for sale, but in reality they have been selling "fakes, forgeries n fuggazies". Too many people think that they purchased signed and ''fight worn" memorabilia, but in fact, I have all of my robes and trunks, with the exception of one, and I know the collector who has it and they are in good hands.
In closing, I just want to say, I appreciate your interest, your loyalty and your input, to make this website a success. I want this to be "informative, educational, but most of all, entertaining". If not, this is an "F and L" for me. A "first and last"!
Again, thank you all and God Bless !!!
